Property prices are now almost 10% above 2007 peak, CSO report claims

According to recent data released by the Central Statistics Office, the cost of residential real estate in Ireland has increased by almost 10% from the spring 2007 peak, reports RTE.

The CSO data shows that while home prices in the rest of Ireland are 10.2% higher than the record set in February 2007, property prices in Dublin are 1.8% lower than that peak.

According to the data, residential property prices increased by 7.9%, compared to growth of 7.4% a month before, marking the quickest annual pace of growth in nearly a year and a half., reports RTE.

The supply of housing is still not increasing quickly enough to curb demand, which has also shown itself to be mostly resistant to rising mortgage interest rates.
