The people’s fight against the imposition of water charges continues today, as protesters gather at locations nationwide to make their voices be heard loud and clear.

The message? We will not pay.

In the capital, a good number of people are gathering at Connolly Station on the north side, and Heuston on the south side. Both groups will then march along the Liffey quays, in an attempt to cause major traffic disruption.

It is understood that several thousand people have shown their support online for today’s protest.

A number of events are scheduled for Dublin’s suburbs and also for a great number of locations around the country; Cork, Carlow, Edenderry, Galway, Letterkenny, Listowel, Laois and Wexford, will all see local demonstrations against the water charges.

Members of Sinn Féin, the Socialist Party and the Anti-Austerity Alliance are expected to attend some of today’s  demonstrations.

Despite petty concessions by the Government, the fight against water taxes will continue, and likely escalate, until the charges are scrapped altogether.
