According to reports the Psychiatric Nurses Association have said that they are very concerned and extremely worried that new referrals have been suspended at the Waterford Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services facility.
The news comes after the HSE failed to appoint a permanent consultant psychiatrist at the facility.
The association say failure to appoint a consultant psychiatrist has resulted in children and teens in the greater Waterford area being sent to an adult facility instead. The association say the loss of child mental health services in the region is highly unacceptable and has left some children and adolescents in a distressed state.
The Association has slammed the HSE saying it was extremely unacceptable to admit young children to the adult mental health services facility in Waterford.
