The entire Irish health service is set to come to a standstill in the near future, as another group of medical professionals has announced its intentions to walk out of their jobs in protest over working conditions.
Up to 6,000 members attached to the Psychiatric Nurses’ Association will not work overtime on January 31 and February 5, 6, and 7. If their demands for better recruitment and retention conditions are not met, three further days of industrial action will happen later in February.
This is the latest episode in a long-running conflict between health service professionals and a Government that does not appear to care about or understand the grave issues at stake.
