The Pandemic Unemployment Payment has officially closed to new applicants from today onwards.
In a move that begins thr phasing out of the payment those wishing to avail Government support whilst out of work will now be required to apply for jobseekers allowance.
Thr closure of the application process comes just over a week after the Government announced that the return to indoor hospitality will be delayed due to concerns over the Delta variant.
It is understood that those who are receiving the payment will still get the current rates but cuts of €50 will begin on September 17th.
Further cuts of €50 are expected to occur on November 16th and then again on February 8th 2022.
