Putin says he’ll hunt down and punish those responsible for terrorist attack

President Vladimir Putin promised to find and punish the perpetrators of the crime, and Russia said that it has detained all four of the gunmen accused of carrying out a shooting atrocity in a music venue outside of Moscow, reports RTE.

Despite strong denials from Ukrainian officials that Kyiv was involved in any way, there were signs that Russia was investigating a possible connection to Ukraine. The militant Islamist organisation Islamic State claimed credit for yesterday’s massacre.

According to the official investigation committee of Russia, 133 persons had died. Without providing a source, State TV editor Margarita Simonyan had previously provided a toll of 143, reports RTE.

Mr. Putin said in a televised speech that 11 persons, including the four shooters, had been taken into custody.

“They tried to hide and moved towards Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data, a window was prepared for them on the Ukrainian side to cross the state border,” he said, reports RTE.
