A court in the UK has heard how a 20 strong gang of men have launched a vicious attack on a group of tree surgeons, cutting off the hand of a teenage worker, after they intervened to stop the abuse of an elderly lady.

27-year-old Habibur Rahman, was abusing and harassing an elderly lady in the culturally enriched town of Rochdale when a group of tree surgeons who were working near by intervened to stop him.

Raham, angered at being “disrespected“, then quickly gathered a gang of at least 20 men and they attacked the four tree surgeons calling them “white bastards”after they tracked them to the property where they were working in the diversity enriched area.

In the racist attack, the gang of men believed to be of Pakistani heritage, blocked the works vehicles with their own cars before setting upon them with weapons including a claw hammer, knives, machetes, a knuckle-duster and an axe.

A court in the UK heard that Rahman shouted from his car, at the workers, before the attack

“I am not going to let them leave,” calling them “white bastards” who were in his “country”.

Before the attack an 18-year-old worker with the men approached the gang attempting to calm tensions and act as a peacemaker.

Mohammed Awais Sajid, a thug with the gang, then without warning slammed the weapon into the young man’s chest, smashing through his ribs and collapsing a lung.

“Sajid followed up with a 360 degree spin of his arm, an act which was doubtless employed to enhance the speed and devastation of the attack,” said prosecutor Tim Storrie.

The teen was airlifted to hospital where he had to ungoe life saving surgery and have his hand reattached.

Prosecutor Tim Storrie went on to say

“The blow itself was aimed at the victim’s head. He was dimly aware at this stage of the weeping of blood down into his waistband. He was turning his body, attempting to leave the scene.

“Through good fortune, he said he realised the axe was above him aiming for his head. He put his arm up to defend himself and the blade essentially severed his arm at the wrist.”

Sajid was astoundingly found not guilty of attempted murder and was convicted of a “section 18 wounding” and sentenced to 18-years in prison.

Meanwhile, Rahman himself was given a four-and-a-half-jail sentence, while his brother Zillur Rahma and mob member Arsan Ali each received four-year terms for conspiracy to commit violent disorder.

However, as is the practice in the UK, the men will only serve half of their sentence behind bars at most.

Nine others are currently being investigated by police in relation to the attack.
