Poland has passed “Stop Paedophilia law” banning promotion of sex to minors

Fresh from their resounding electoral victory last Sunday, Poland’s governing Law and Justice (PiS) party have succeeded in passing a bill that will criminalize “the promotion of underage sexual activity”.

The conservative party has outraged liberals and the EU in passing the legislation dubbed the “Stop Paedophilia law” as they say it will stop children learning about gay sex, contraceptives and transgender ideology.

As part of the legislation teachers who violate the law will face five years in prison and law requires the school curriculum to only teach children about heterosexual sex for the purposes of procreation and promotes pro-life and anti-contraception views.

Amnesty International has condemned the law saying it will out young people in “danger”.

Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski had attacked previous attempts to expand sex education in the country for minors saying it sexualise children.

The conservative leader has also mocked and derided concepts such as “gay pride” and transgenderism, referring to gay pride parades as travelling circuses.
