Rain, rain, and more rain: Weather station in Kerry records highest rainfall on one day in over a century and a half

Valentia Observatory in Co. Kerry recorded 105.5mm of rain in 24 hours on Monday.

This figure represents the highest amount of rainfall in one single day in over 150 years, according to the historical data.

There was some local flooding around Kerry on Monday, and a number of roads were closed for a time.
