According to a recent report published by the AA it’s is believed that a third of Irish motorists have said they have seen people applying make-up or shaving whilst driving on a regular basis.

The latest survey also revealed that an astonishing 83% of motorists have seen fellow motorists using a phone whilst driving. According to the figures a over half of motorists (56%) also say they had seen people texting whilst they were behind the wheel.

The startling news has prompted the AA to issue a warning saying the offences are considered to be “driving without reasonable consideration.” Meanwhile Conor Faughnan, the Director of Consumer Affairs at AA Ireland said: “It is worrying to think that people are still taking risks despite the fact that everyone with an ounce of sense knows the dangers. There are stricter provisions on mobile devices that will soon become law and there are really no excuses.” “Certainly not for personal grooming; that’s ridiculous behaviour.”
