Soaring temperatures across Europe have reached record levels as the current heatwave sweeps through the continent.
Thermometers in France have marked 44.3C, for instance, prompting a number of health warnings affecting the youngest and oldest in society, and those with underlying health conditions.
The heatwave is expected to last at least a week, with many scientists saying that extreme temperatures are likely to become more and more frequent due to global warming.
Ireland meanwhile will remain relatively mild, with temperatures hovering just beyond 25-27C over the next few days.
