Repent folks, as the so-called ‘Mayan doomsday’ calendar was wrong, according to conspiracy theorists, and the world will end soon

You might want to start repenting soon, as conspiracy crackpots are claiming that the so-called ‘Mayan doomsday’ calendar was wrong, adding that the world will end ‘soon.’

By ‘soon’, they mean this month -June 21, to be precise-, so the human race has less than two weeks to exist. Bummer.

The whole end of the world thing began way back in 1752, when the Gregorian calendar was adopted by the British Empire. At the time, the Gregorian calendar was 11 days ahead of the Julian calendar, which led to the decision to ‘remove’ these days to match the dates when the Gregorian calendar was widely adopted by the British. Consequently, the days 3-13 of September were skipped. This in itself led to riots and social unrest.

But those adept to read and see what they want to see now say that we should still be in the year 2012, had people still observed the Julian calendar. So in reality, they say, June 21 2020 should be December 21, 2012.

The year 2012 was supposed to be the date of mankind’s untimely demise. This date was chosen because an ancient Mayan calendar only counted time up to this point. Yet, here we are.

Repent, I say.
