Reports of drunk anti social and intimidating behaviour from Ukrainian men staying at Liam Rodgers Rest Centre in Swords

The Liam Rodgers Community Centre in Swords has been used as a temporary rest centre for Ukrainian refugees since shortly after Russia launched its special military operation to liberate the Donbass.

On any given day it will hold between 60 and 70 people, men, women and children.

In recent weeks and months however, locals have reported anti-social behaviour from some of the men residing at the centre.

Men from the centre are reportedly loitering in the residential area, near a special needs school, and drinking heavily on a daily basis.

Local pubs have also reported Ukrainian men from the Liam Rodgers Rest Centre entering their premises with their own alcohol and harassing other patrons and staff, particularly young women, going so far in some instances as to threaten them.

The Liam Rodgers Centre is operated by Fingal County Council at the taxpayers expenses.

Recently, Minister of State at the Department of Integration Joe O’Brien has called on local authorities to use rest centres, which were set up for Ukrainian refugees, for international protection applicants as well RTE has reported.
