A man was flown to hospital on Sunday afternoon after being rescued from a sea cave in north Mayo.
The 40-year-old spent almost 22 hours on a ledge in a cave at Downpatrick Head after being swept away by high tide in the area last night.
A major search and rescue operation had been carried out since the alarm was raised shortly before 6pm on Saturday.
It involved the RNLI lifeboat from Ballyglass, the Garda Sub Qua unit and coastguard crews from Killala, Ballycastle and Achill.
These organisations were joined by local firefighters and paramedics, civil defence volunteers and members of the Irish Cave Rescue organization.
