Lithuanian researchers have developed a method based on deep learning that can predict the possible onset of Alzheimer’s disease with an accuracy of more than 99%.
The method uses artificial intelligence and deep learning to analyse images of the brain. It’s understood that the method is faster than manual analysis because that requires specific knowledge of the changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Researchers at the Technical University of Kaunas (KTU) in Lithuania developed the method for analysing functional magnetic resonance images from 138 test subjects. Researchers found that it performed better than previously developed methods in terms of precision, sensitivity and specificity and that its accuracy is more than 99%.
