A woman in search of love lost her savings to a scammer she met on a dating site.

Over the course of four months, Qaiser Saeed spun a complex web of lies and presented himself as a single man who owns his own business. The 40-yr-old also alleged that his bank account was blocked because he was the victim of a fraud.

Saeed took advantage of the trusting nature of his 39-yr-old victim and got her to transfer a little over €50,000 to his account, which he claimed would pay his employees’ wages until his account was unlocked.

But in reality, Saeed was a married man with children who worked as a security guard. The scammer from Botwell Lane in Hayes, UK appeared at Isleworth Crown Court this week, where he was sentenced to three years in prison for misrepresentation.

The man had previously been convicted of the crime by a jury at the Barbican Nightingale Court on September 3rd last year. During the trial, the court learned how Saeed had befriended the 39-year-old through an online dating site in May 2013. Police arrested Saeed on April 10, 2014 on suspicion of fraud, but the police released him on bail pending further investigation.

Just a week later, he broke his bail and fled the country to Pakistan to avoid conviction. But five years later, on September 30, 2019, justice prevailed when Saeed blatantly travelled to Heathrow on a student visa and was caught. He was convicted this week and jailed for 3 years.
