A small group of residents at Mosney Direct Provision Centre have held a demonstration over how they have been treated.
It is understood that the group prevented management from entering the premises in a demonstration held outside the centre this morning.
The protest apparently comes after residents voiced their disapproval at conditions following the transfer of a woman and her two children to a centre in Co Cavan.
Residents holding the protest told RTÉ News that the demonstration was held as ‘a cry for help’.
It is believed residents voiced their concerns after the woman who was transferred to a different centre in Co Cavan was left upset when she was denied the chance to return to the Mosney centre.
The woman who arrived in Ireland two months ago reportedly appealed to stay in the centre due to her son’s health issues, and believed she had better resources there.
However despite her initial request being denied, it has since been revealed she and her two children have returned to the centre since.
According to RTÉ News, protesters say the demonstration was held as they are in fear of speaking out to management at the centre as they fear they may be transferred to a different centre.
Meanwhile Gardaí have confirmed that they were alerted to the demonstration which ended peacefully a short time later.
