Retail chain Holland & Barrett move to ban wet wipes from its stores for environmental reasons




Retail chain Holland & Barrett have confirmed that it will no longer sell wet wipes in the UK and Ireland due to environmental reasons.

In announcement made this week, the chain which has over 800 stores in the UK and Ireland confirmed that they will no longer stock disposable wet wipes at it stores.

The company say the removal of the product is being made due to the environmental impact of their use.

It is thought that wet wipes are one of the most commonly flushed items across the country and are the leading cause of fatbergs Irish sewers.

Holland & Barrett say they plan to replace wet wet wipes with other eco friendly alternatives including cotton cloths, unbleached cotton muslin cloths, cotton pads and exfoliating mitts.
