The next battle against water charges will take place in just over a week’s time: Saturday, March 21.

On that date, thousands will take to the streets nationwide to protest against Irish Water, and the imposition of water charges.

Representatives for Right2Water have said that they “detect no softening in public opposition to water charges”. People are asked to assemble at Merrion Square, Connolly Station and Heuston Station at 1pm on the day.

Brendan Ogle, Right2Water coordinator, has said ” this campaign will continue until the Government abolishes domestic water charges, takes steps to permanently enshrine public ownership of our water, and returns to the drawing board to design a fit-for-purpose water policy.”
