There was great news in Rio last night as Ireland’s Thomas Barr qualified for the 400m hurdle final after winning his semi-final.
The Waterford man booked his spot in Thursday’s final after he powered over the line in a time of 48.39, a feat that marks a new Irish record.
Barr’s remarkable achievement makes it the first time since 1932 that Ireland have had a finalist in the 400m hurdles when Bob Tisdall won gold.
