The tragic trend of road deaths continues today, after a male motorist in his 60s died in a collision involving five vehicles in Co. Westmeath.
The incident happened earlier today, on the M6 motorway at the Junction 5 exit for Kilbeggan. A female passenger, also in her 60s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Nine other people were also taken to hospital.
The stretch of road where the crash took place was closed for a time to allow for a forensic investigation.
