A road in Co Donegal has been officially given a new name in order to pay homage to an iconic Star Wars character.
In a move that will coincide with the May the 4th Be With You festival in Malin Head, the R242 has been renamed the R2D2.
It is understood the renaming of the road comes as scenes for the latest Star Wars movie were shot in Co Donegal.
The name change was officially given approval by Donegal County Council after it was submitted Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray.
It was also given backing from Fáilte Ireland who say it will hopefully boost tourism in the region.
