The Minister for Sport Shane Ross has said that the FAI needs a total clean out before the Government will consider giving funding to the association.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland Programme, Ross said that the current regime at the association has no idea how deep the black hole goes in terms of its finances.
Ross who said he is willing to support grassroots programmes through independent parties, told the programme that the association needs a clear out before the Government re-engage with it.
The sport’s Minister’s comments come after it was revealed last week that the association has liabilities totaling €55m.
