The Road Safety Authority has warned that it will take a year to reduce the waiting list for driving tests.

Speaking before an Oireachtas Committee, the RSA’s s Director of Driver testing Declan Naughton, said the current average waiting period now stands at 25 weeks.

The committee was told that the RSA has recruited 40 testers but it would take at least 40 more testers to reduce the average waiting period by February 2022.
