RTE claim they are the “most trusted” news in Ireland but many feel RTE think media bias is more important than trust in a news service – Here’s how to easily and quickly spot media bias in your newsfeed

For those who still watch RTE, you will have noticed adverts running, teaching their audience about “fake news” and how “trust matters” in journalism. RTE even published a report last week claiming “RTÉ is the most trusted news source for Irish consumers, with 78% of respondents saying they trusted the service”.

However, the report was commissioned by REUTERS, a major player in the syndicated news industry. Not exactly independent, is it?

Media bias is the news industry’s dirty little secret. They don’t want us to scrutinise it. The media prefer to teach us about “fake news” instead.

But media bias dictates which news stories get covered and which don’t.
Media bias decides on which political parties and special interest groups get airtime. It is used to censor and silence opposition. But RTE prefer to shout about “Fake News”. When RTE commission an actual independent study on Media Bias, then it’s time to sit up and pay attention.

There are a couple of simple ways to check if your newsfeed is biased.
If your newsfeed calls “pro-life” people or organisations “anti-abortion” then you can be sure that your newsfeed is exercising bias in their journalism. It was agreed globally by the liberal left to use “anti-abortion” to describe pro-lifers some years ago.

Then we have the “FAR RIGHT” slur. This is classic media bias at it’s worst.
Anyone who the media do not agree with is branded “far right” nowadays. But how many times have you heard “far left” in the news?
Search RTE for “FAR RIGHT”. It brings up 90,700 results.
Search the same website for “FAR LEFT” and you’ll find 32,900 results.

Whilst these examples of media bias are somewhat expected in privately owned newsrooms (yes that includes us too), it is definitely not acceptable in RTE’s newsrooms.
RTE receives hundred of millions of euros from us the taxpayer, every year. We deserve impartial news, not censored, manipulated or biased news from this state entity. Lets see less about “trust” and “fake news” and lets see a truly independent report on RTE’s MEDIA BIAS.
