High brass in RTE have vowed to dock star presenters’ pay by a hefty 15%.
According to the RTE boss, the TV licence system is “broken” and it must change.
In a leaked document to the media, RTE chiefs plan on dropping some 200 staff over the coming three years in an effort to save some €60 million.
The broadcaster is in dyer straights financially and needs to do something drastic to keep itself afloat, according to RTE bosses themselves.
It’s understood that a variety of digital radio services will now shutdown including RTE Pulse and RTE Rado 1 extra.
Meanwhile, the national broadcaster is looking to let go over 200 staff, something they wanted to announce to staff themselves first rather than the media.
They want the government to enforce changes in the TV licence, something that most certainly will not go down well with the general public.
Pay cuts and pay freezes are also on the cards but don’t worry, Ryan Tubridy will still be on more than €400k a year.
