Budget airline Ryanair has announced the closure of a number of European bases as a result of the worldwide grounding of the Boeing 737-Max fleet, after two fatal crashes involving the aircraft.
Ryanair’s growth plans were affected by the Boeing disasters, as the airline had a number of Boeing 737-Max on order. But despite the two accidents, which claimed the lives of almost 350 people, Ryanair’s boss Michael O’Leary said that he ‘remains confident in the aircraft.’
In the meantime, Ryanair may go ahead with closures of some European bases during winter as the uncertainty over growth continues.
