The online army is on the march. This time it’s a Facebook page which has been set up to support a widowed father of three who is in danger of losing his home.
“Save The O’Connor Family Home” is a community page set up to show support for the family of Danny O’Connor who lost his wife Aisling six years ago from a suspected infection in her lungs. Since that time he has been caring for their three young children, Sophie (8), Scott (3) and Stacey (1).
While his wife was ill, Danny prioritised her care and paid “interest only” on the mortgage on the family home. But the bank has been closing in ever since and despite his attempts to settle the matter with the help of the Ombudsman, he is now facing repossession.
The Facebook page has already garnered over 5,000 members and many are leaving donations to help the family in their time of need. Most touching are the messages left by ordinary members of the public who don’t know the O’Connor family but are eager to lend their support and show that there are always people who care about others.
