The hotly debated subject of Water charges has gotten a whole lot spicer recently after a Junior government Minister has revealed that he has never paid his bill.
The man at the centre of the storm Independent TD Finian McGrath has raised many eyebrows nationwide after he claimed he was not legally obligated to pay the ‘Wasteful’ charges.
Mr McGrath’s refusal to pay his charges will surely anger some of the 950,000 customers who have all ready paid their charges, and who are unlikely to receive a refund.
Mr McGrath, who was recently given the position of Junior Minister for Disability, told reporters: “I was very annoyed with the whole setting up of Irish Water, the incompetency and the amount of money that was wasted. “But I also had a problem in relation to water charges in general and I was involved in that campaign so I haven’t paid it.”
Meanwhile when asked if he should be forced to pay his bill now he is a government minister, Mr McGrath replied: “I’ll have to check up the legal aspect of my problem.”
