A senior Black Lives Matter movement leader has said that if the United States does not acquiesce to the demands of group, which include the abolishment of the police and the justice system as well as mass release of prisoners, they will “burn down this system”.
Greater New York Black Lives Matter President Hawk Newsome warned that if the United States “doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it” in an interview with Fox News Channel’s ‘The Story’ host Martha MacCallum.
Previously, Newsome had said that the BLM movement would be forming an armed wing to patrol black neighbourhoods once they have driven out the police.
Violent crime has seen a sharp increase in US cities that have been blighted with protests and riots for some weeks now following the death of criminal George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody.
