Severe weather in the form of heavy rain and lightning caused significant disruption to the road and rail network in eastern regions of Ireland today.
Many areas of the country experienced localized flooding, particularly along the M50 in Dublin. Elsewhere in Dublin, lighting damaged the signaling system on the Dublin Connolly-Maynooth and Docklands-M3 Parkway rail line, disrupting service for a time.
Weather conditions have significantly eased over the last few hours, so normal service should resume shortly.
