Figures just released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organization (INMO) show that there are almost 500 people waiting to be admitted to hospital today, with most of these languishing on trolleys.
According to the figures, the hospital with the worst overcrowding is the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, with 50 people waiting for admission. University Hospital Limerick has 38, and St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin counts 37.
Nationwide, there are 493 people waiting for beds, with 364 suffering silently while on trolleys.
