Katie Taylor has created history tonight as she became the first Irish fighter to ever hold three titles at the same time.
Taylor has added the WBO lightweight title to her collection as she beat on Brazil’s Rose Volante in Philadelphia.
In a highly anticipated fight between two unbeaten champions, the Bray native outclassed her Brazilian counterpart to claim victory in the 9th round.
Taylor who was composed in the lead up to the fight, got off too the perfect start as she put her opponent on the canvas within seconds.
However despite the hard hit, Volante showed heart and hung in there as Taylor continued to land blows on her opponent throughout the fight.
Taylor who could have easily won on a points decision alone, showed her superiority in the ninth round by claiming a stoppage victory after landing a blow on the Brazilians nose causing the fight to be put to an end.
