A virtual charity run has been organised to commemorate the schoolteacher Ashling Murphy who was laid to rest last week.

According to DublinLive, 29-year-old Eilis Noonan decided to hold the virtual run to raise funds for Women’s Aid.  She had previously organised a GoFundMe for the same charity.

The run is intended to take place at 4pm on Sunday which was the same time Ashling went for her run.  Speaking to Dublin Live, Eilis said that she was absolutely heartbroken at Ashling’s death and she wanted to do something nice for her:  “It was very sad so I wanted to do something positive and useful.”

She said that she was very happy with the response as it showed that everyone wanted to support it.  She said that the walk or run could be done anywhere and the hashtag #SheWasGoingForARun” would be used on the day to post pictures.
