Ship runs aground at the mouth of the river Boyne

A ship has yet again run aground at the mouth of the River Boyne in Co Louth.

The ‘Arklow Ruler’ cargo ship is believed to have nine people on board. The coast guard reported that the ship got twisted up on the banks at around 9:30 yesterday (Saturday) morning.

The cargo ship is located at the entrance to Drogheda port.
A tug boat was sent to attend to the ship at 7pm yesterday evening. It was hoped that the Arklow Ruler would have been free by 9:30pm last night. But it has since been revealed that the attempts to refloat the ship yesterday evening failed, further attempts Will take place a the next high tide which is expected to be late this evening (Sunday)
