A man and a woman, both in their 40s, were ambushed and attacked at their doorstep by two men wielding a hammer and a knife.
The incident took place on the Swords road in Whitehall, at around 10:30pm last Sunday night.
The attackers did not manage to gain access to the property, and fled on foot. The man and a woman were left with head injuries and were rushed to the Mater hospital to be treated.
