According French media the country’s government is being forced to deploy an extra 5,000 police officers to the streets of Paris as tourists are increasingly targeted by petty criminals, the UK’s Express has warned British citizens intending to visit the City of Lights.
Pick pockets, muggings, anti-social behaviour and crime of all sorts has skyrocketed in the French capital in the past few years with gangs of organised thieves preying on vulnerable sight searers.
Thousands of French soldiers are also deployed around Paris, particularly at sights popular with tourists, as the country remains in a state of emergency since the terrorist attacks of November 13th, 2015.
More bi-lingual police are also being deployed to help tourists that may fall victim to crime in the city over the Summer.
