Gardai in Co Cavan have launched a full scale investigation after a 11 year old boy was brutally beaten by six thugs in an attack on a playground.
Gardai say the disgraceful and unprovoked assault took place last Thursday in the Ardkeen region of the county, it is understood that the six youths ganged up on the schoolboy and repeatedly thumped and kicked him. Gardai have described the attack as “sickening ”. It is believed that the young boy was badly injured and severely traumatised by the attack, he was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment and has since been released.
The unprovoked attack has caused outrage amongst the community with one parent saying: “Everyone in the area is upset and angry over what has happened. “Nothing warrants such outrageous behaviour by youngsters and the sympathy of the community is with this young boy who was terrified by his ordeal.”
