A Chinese mother reportedly sold her newborn twins for £7,400 to pay off her credit card bills.
As reported by Metro, the woman sold the babies for £5,100 and £2,271 respectively, to two different families.
Authorities soon tracked down the mother and the babies following a tip-off. The children have now been removed from the families they were sold to and are being cared for by blood relatives.
The mother is in custody, and may face up to 10 years in jail for child trafficking.
