This is the shocking image of a disabled lady being shouted out, mocked, jeered, imitated and even screamed at by staff in a nursing home for disabled people in Swinford, Co. Mayo.
This tragic but disgusting image was part of an RTE PrimeTime special investigation into the nursing home. Hidden cameras revealed truly shocking scenes of old people being lifted and practically thrown into wheelchairs, disabled people who have a “favourite chair” being harassed and indeed disciplined by taking their chair off them and being left to sit on the floor.
The HSE is said to be doing a full inquiry into the goings on in the so-called “care” home. This incident is not in isolation, other nursing homes are said to currently be investigated for similar disgraceful activity.
