Sinn Fein TD Louise O’Reilly has said that the Taoiseach Micheal Martin should lead by example and cancel his St Patrick’s Day trip to Washington D.C.
Speaking on Virgin Media’s The Tonight Show, O’Reilly said that the Taoiseach should lead by example given that people are currently not allowed to travel more than 5km from their home.
The Dublin Fingal TD also said that she is well aware of the relationship that Ireland has with the United States of America, but stated that it is a long standing relationship with the US and the Biden administration wasn’t going to change that relationship just because the Taoiseach isn’t there for just one day.
O’Reilly went onto say that the Taoiseach had an opportunity to lead by example and give the message of “do as I say and as I do” rather than the usual Government message of “do as I say but not what I do.”
