Slight fall in hospital waiting lists is praised by Taoiseach who says things are moving in right direction




The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said the current hospital waiting lists are moving in right direction despite the number being incredibly high.

According to RTÉ News, the Taoiseach who has praised the National Treatment Fund said that figures are improving even though the current waiting lists remain over 718,000.

The Taoiseach said that although further improvements are needed, the government is more than pleased given that the list has fallen by 10,000 in the past year.

Mr Varadkar comments come as new figures published this week found that there are currently 718,165 people on hospital waiting lists across the country.

The Taoiseach did however admit that further improvements are needed in regards to outpatient appointments, but overall things are moving in the right direction.
