Son of US Judge presiding over Epstein case killed in gun attack on home, husband wounded

The son and husband a US Federal judge have been shot in a gun attack on the New Jersey home after a man disguised as a FedEx postal worker opened fire on them.

The attack took place on the home of US District Judge Esther Salas on Sunday night which has tragically resulted in the death of her 20-year-old son Daniel and the serious wounding of her husband.

Judge Salas was not injured in the attack.

The FBI has said they are seeking a lone gunman suspect and have not speculated on a motive for the attack.

Judge Salas, who was appointed to the Federal Bench in 2011 by then President Barack Obama, was the first Latina to attain such a position in the state of New Jersey. While in the past Judge Salas has received some threats but not in recent years.

Just days ago, however Salas was assigned preside over an ongoing lawsuit brought by Deutsche Bank investors against company.

It is alleged by investors the company made false and misleading statements about its anti-money laundering policies and failed to monitor “high-risk” customers including convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
