Southern California rocked by 6.4 magnitude earthquake




Authorities in the US state of California have confirmed that it is dealing with a number of incidents following a massive earthquake.

According to reports in the US, Southern California was struck with a 6.4 magnitude earthquake shortly after 10:30am local time.

The earthquake which has been described as one of the worst to hit the state in 20 year’s, has left authorities dealing with a number of incidents including medical emergencies and structural fires in the town of Ridgecrest.

It is believed that the earthquake measured approximately 5.4 miles deep and had as many as 60 aftershocks.

The quake is believed to have affected over 20 million people in the state and has been felt in cities such Los Angeles and as far away as Las Vegas.

It has also led to a number of evacuations in the town of Ridgecrest with reports of falling debris and glass in the town.
