SpaceX’s Dragon rocket lifts off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, ferrying two astronauts to the ISS

SpaceX’s Dragon rocket lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida yesterday, ferrying two astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) inside the detachable Crew Dragon pod.

The craft took off from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 3:22pm EST Saturday. The event marks a historic moment, as this is the first-ever commercial manned mission into space, and the first time that American astronauts have flown an American-made craft since the space shuttle program ended almost a decade ago.

Onboard, Nasa astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken will fly the Crew Dragon pod to the ISS, where it’s expected to dock today.
