A Status Orange weather warning is now in effect for two counties as conditions deteriorate rapidly.
The warning, which covers counties Dublin and Wicklow, will remain in place until 8am on Saturday.
According to the national forecaster, many areas around these counties will experience persistent, heavy rain, which may lead to flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
