
Gardai have asked the public not to swim or take photos in dangerous places during Storm Ashley. They say that it could cost them their lives if things go wrong, likewise it’s putting emergency personnel at risk.
Kerry, Leitrim, and Sligo counties have been added to the Status Orange wind warning ahead of Storm Ashely, reports RTE.
The forecaster has previously issued Status Orange wind warnings for Clare, Galway, Mayo, and Donegal, four further western counties.
Today, the warning will be in force from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Strong gusts from Storm Ashley are expected to create coastal flooding when combined with high spring tides, reports RTE.
According to the forecaster, winds of up to 130 km/h might potentially damage power lines, undermine structures, and result in power outages.
Additionally, Met Éireann has issued a warning about hazardous maritime conditions and challenging transport circumstances.

A Status Yellow wind warning will be in effect for the remainder of Ireland from midnight tonight until three in the morning on Monday, reports RTE.
Additionally, counties Antrim, Down, Armagh, Tyrone, Derry, and Fermanagh are under a Status Yellow wind warning, according to the UK Met Office.
That alert is in force until midnight tomorrow, starting at 3 a.m.
Met Éireann has issued a separate Status Yellow rain warning for seven counties.
Today from 12 a.m. to 9 a.m., the warning will be in place for the following areas: Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, and Waterford, reports RTE.
As Ireland prepares for Storm Ashley, Met Éireann has advised the people to avoid coastal areas during tomorrow’s wind warnings.
Joanna Donnelly, a meteorologist, described Storm Ashley as a “very serious storm” with heavy gusts, especially over west-facing shores.
She told Brendan O’Connor of RTÉ that there will be coastal flooding and the year’s biggest spring tides.
“We’ve kind of got a perfect storm going on here, it is very serious. The main message we need to get out is there is to stay away from the coasts. Don’t risk your life for an Instagram photo,” she said, reports RTE.
