Storm Erik has battered Ireland and the UK over the last 48 hours causing widespread disruption as winds reached 140kmh.
However the high winds haven’t just caused major damage as authorities in the UK have confirmed a man has been killed after a tree fell on his car.
According to reports in the UK the man aged in his 50s was killed after he was crushed by a tree in Buckfastleigh, Devon.
Police say the man was tragically killed at the scene.
They also urged the British public to proceed with caution as high winds sweep across the country.
