Storm Gareth: Met Eireann extends their status yellow weather warning for the entire country




Storm Gareth has hit the country, hard, and with it brought heavy rain and strong gusts to many parts of the country.

A Status Orange wind warning remains in place for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. This will remain in effect until at least 9am this morning.

The national forecaster, Met Eireann says that westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 80km/h with damaging gusts of up to 130km/h.

It’s understood that there’s a severe risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.

Met Eireann have now extended a Status Yellow weather warning for the entire country and will remain in effect until 12pm today with gusts of up to 110km/h possible.

The national forecaster is due to update the situation later this morning.
