Storm Lorenzo update: Met Eireann issues new weather warning as Ireland continues to be lashed by strong winds

The worst of Storm Lorenzo may have passed, but its tail end continues to lash Ireland with strong winds this afternoon.

Met Eireann has now issued a new Status Yellow weather warning for high winds, covering counties Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Clare.

There’s still danger around coastal areas as high waves continue to pose a threat of flooding or personal damage, so people are advised to stay away from shores until the seas are calmer.

The storm also caused power outages, with about 4,000 premises left in the dark in the wake of the storm.
